Bryan Graf Exhibit

I attended Yancey Richison gallery with a friend of mine's on Tuesday to see the Bryan Graf exhibit, and I must say that I was pleasantly surprised. The exhibition is very earthy, it is perfect for this time of the year. The color contrast is incredible along with the textures. I felt as if I were in the garden. There was one piece of art that really captured my attention. It was of a dog or a wolf or something of that nature and the animal seemed to be either sleeping or dead. The animal is surrounded by what looks like a garden and it just gives off a feeling of feeling of peacefulness. Some exhibitions that I have been to sometimes feel a bit depressing but this one definitely was not, at least not to me. I plan on going again before it closes on May 18th and I recommend anyone who's reading this to check it out as well.

Thoughts on Meditation...

When I attended a meditation class at insight meditation I was a bit hesitant. I went there assuming that I was going to hate it, but the exact opposite happened. My plan was to go and leave after 30 minutes, but I ended up staying for the whole session. It was such a peaceful and spiritual learning experience for me. When the meditation was over and we finished our stretch, we talked as a group and the man (he was substituting for the woman) said something that really hit home, at least for me. He said that when you clear your mind and your thoughts resurface and you try to focus on these images, they can sometimes be negative. I thought this was funny because most of my thoughts were negative. From this I decided to delete my Facebook; my Facebook was filled with negativity and I indulged in every piece of it. It was like an addiction and going to this session made me realize how much I don't need it. All in all, I definitely plan on going to this class again and when I get the hang of it I might become a regular.
